I'm Tom Bannerman, an aerospace engineer on the Gold Coast. I love technology, creativity and the water — which is why so much of this work is underwater.

I shoot digital below the surface and 35mm film above it. Every print buys more time in the water and more film through the camera.

In the ocean the encounters are brief. Often it's a single moment where it's possible to capture the true magnificence of Mother Earth's beauty — one pass, one turn of the light. Most of the time you miss it. The EARTH collection is the frames I didn't: my best work, and the ones worth printing.
